Baguio Lockdown Story (How Baguio flattened the curve?)

Last April, Baguio received praises for being able to flatten the curve of the positive cases of the corona virus for more than a week.

In the video, I showed how Baguio responded before and during the lockdown and how these contributed for the flattening of the curve.

You can see that during the General Community Quarantine, people of Baguio City are so disciplined that there are almost no people seen outside not just like the usual day of Baguio City where tourists are seen everywhere.

Residents would also follow protocols like wearing of face masks and maintaining distance from each other. They would also follow the schedule given to them for marketing purposes.

Mayor Benjamin Magalong also received good praises from people of Baguio City and outside Baguio City for his taken actions and respond on this pandemic.

One thing that also greatly helped the city to flatten the curve was their way of contact tracing. Magalong said that Baguio uses a private system and technology to improve its contact tracing system. He shared several linked diagrams of each positive case the Baguio City LGU used.

Magalong said that he developed this system when he was in the CIDG and it is similar to what they use when they investigate criminal cases. Ultimately, the city’s contact tracing database is also stored in a cloud system, which makes it easier for them to access the data. (cited: wheninmanila.com)

The Baguio City Mayor's dedication and hard work and the discipline and cooperation of the residents of Baguio are certainly the keys why Baguio was able to flatten the curve.
