Cavite tahong vendor Marlon Tanael returns found bag with P15 million

Cavite tahong vendor Marlon Tanael exercised an act of integrity and returned a bag he found containing a manager’s cheque for Php15 million.

In the early afternoon of July 1, 2020, Tanael witnessed a gray backpack fall from a motorcycle cruising through the highway where he was

hawking the mussels. Wary of the chance the backpack may hold something harmful, he waited three hours before touching it.

The next day, he found that the nearly-empty bag had a manila envelope that held a cheque worth ₱15,000,147.80.

He later turned over the bag and its contents to the City Treasurer’s Office of Imus for it to be returned to its rightful owner. The items were claimed by Gramwil Pango of Property Company of Friends, Inc.

The City Treasurer’s Office on Facebook recognized Tanael’s good deed and showed their appreciation.

Tanael’s neighborhood, Barangay Talaba II, has also awarded Tanael a certification of appreciation, a testament to his goodwill.

Tanael is also a volunteer for the Barangay Inter-Agency Task Force.

Another inspirational Filipino is security guard Rene Abelita, who had been teaching street kids how to read and write during the lockdown.

To honor these amazing and kind acts, Ayala Malls has invited the public to nominate ordinary individuals who did good deeds.
