Just two months on from the release of their latest album, How You Like That, Blackpink has revealed a new collaboration with American pop princess Selena Gomez. Following collaborations with Lady Gaga (in 2020), and Dua Lipa (in 2017), Lisa, Jisoo, Rosé and Jennie have delighted fans by heading into the studio — virtually, we suspect — with yet another international artist. The as yet unnamed track will be available to stream from 28 August.

Rumours around a planned collaboration with Selena first emerged after the band hinted that a guest would join them on their next single, prompting Blackpink’s management, YG Entertainment, to attempt to appease fans by asking them to “please wait for the official announcement later”. 

As with anything Blackpink-related, speculation over the identity of the guest star started trending worldwide on Twitter. Ariana Grande was hotly tipped. Ever since the Vogue cover girl said she would “probably pass out” if she was given the opportunity to work with Blackpink, fans have been waiting for this particular pop golden egg to hatch. While we still wouldn’t rule out a Blackpink/Ari collab in future, for now at least, it’s over to Selena Gomez. 

“So SO excited to announce @ygofficialblink and I have a new song coming out August 28th,” Selena wrote to her 61.9 million Twitter followers, sharing the track’s graphics, which combine candy stripes and dripping chocolate.
