On May 11, 2020, the Department of Education (DepEd) has reached a decision to set the opening of School Year (SY) 2020-2021 on August 24, 2020. Given the anticipated disruptions in face-to-face holding of classes, and the need for social distancing, distance learning will be a major component of learning delivery for the incoming school year.

As part of the preparation for incoming SY 2020-2021, the mayor of the City of Makati said that all Makati public school teachers in elementary, junior and senior high school will each receive a brand new laptop for SY 2020-2021.

Distribution of the laptops are aimed to start this October, in time for the celebration of World Teacher’s Day.
