I was looking through my Google Play store and I got intrigued by this application called Slowly. I clicked it and found it interesting. It brings the pen pal experience back to your smartphone. It gives me the whole 90’s vibe where you write a letter to someone. Slowly is available on Google Play and iTunes store. It is free and it doesn’t have any advertisements. So far I’ve made eleven pen friends from different parts of the world. I like the anticipation of receiving a new letter or reply from my pen friends. It actually makes me look forward to the next coming days. Another thing I like about the application is you can choose at least 30 topics of interests. They use those commonly interested topics and languages spoken to match you with other users. You have to create your own avatar and choose a username. No pictures needed. Although, you can receive photos exclusively from those pen friends who you have granted access. If you like collecting something, you can also collect stamps on Slowly. There are 100 or more stamps which you can unlock by meeting new friends, traveling to a new country or logging into the application during festive seasons and events. I’ve read some articles online that they have made long lasting friendships through Slowly. Some people even found the love of their life while sending those letters. In this time of instant gratification, I think Slowly is a breath of fresh air. I like it when I wake up in the morning and see in my notification bar that I’ve received a letter from another country or even from the Philippines. It keeps me excited. Kind of reminds me of the movie called The Lake House starring Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. During this time, we can’t really travel that much so why not form connections using this application. It’s free and you can build meaningful relationships if you opt to. Tell me your experience if you have tried Slowly. What do you think about it and what are the areas of improvement?
