Let us remember how Manila was back in the days. When you do research on Manila vintage photos, you will discover plenty of pictures from YouTube to Google. I recommend you to watch a video and read an article posted here to take a look at Manila. You will also realize that there is a lot to learn from our history and how our past looked like based on these photos. From the 1900s to the 1970s or 1980s, Manila was a lot different. Indeed, Manila has been evolving over the past century. However, starting after around the 1970s and 1980s, the majestic beauty began to diminish. This is not to discourage the youth but for us to learn from certain mistakes. As a Gen Z, looking back at Manila with these vintage photos made me feel happy and sad. I'm sure that it would surprise you especially when you are a Gen Z. You will barely recognize what you are about to see. You are about to witness Manila in a new light. It was the old Manila. First of all, it felt nostalgic looking at these old photos. Second, I didn't recognize these places at all because there were not many buildings back then. Back then, Manila was all green. Third, I admired the cleanliness of the streets, less air pollution, the formal clothes of the people, and less amount of traffic. I strongly believe that all the youth should view them in order to not forget where we came from; to discover the majestic beauty that the Philippines was, and to create new innovative ideas. All I can say is that the Boomers and the Gen X people were lucky enough to live during these times. I'm not sure if this is me but I felt and more proud to be Filipina looking at these photos compared to now. If that makes sense, I could sense and feel more of the Filipino culture and other positive qualities that we were supposed to have. Whether we can bring back this old Manila or not, we must ensure that the city still turns into an environmentally friendly place. There also shall be better preservation of historical antiques and architecture instead of destroying them with new buildings. We need to create a more disciplined society. There shall be less number of crimes as well as a greater economic increase. Finally, we shall never forget where we all came from. What's more important now is that we can start over by transmuting a lot of our negative qualities into positive and doing our best to contribute making Manila a better place every day. recommended article: https://www.spot.ph/newsfeatures/the-latest-news-features/66591/photos-10-metro-manila-roads-then-and-now-a125-20160608 Photo Credit: Angkang Pilipino
