Parenting | My Picky Eater Baby

I think every mother is always excited about the “Big Day” which is the first time to give solid food for your baby.

As one of them, I carefully followed the instructions from one of my books about the sequence of food to be given when the baby is about to eat solid food so that there is a large possibility that he won’t be a picky eater when he grows up.

But when he learned to say “no!” and learned to shake his head as a gesture of telling me he doesn’t want to eat, suddenly, he doesn’t want to eat anymore! The struggle to make him eat is real! And I wonder why?
I carefully analyze why his taste bud changed. Is my menu for him makes him “umay”? (when you are eating a particular food, and your taste bud is looking for something more, a different taste to break the sameness of that particular food). Why he doesn’t like it anymore? Is it because we gave him food from a food chain that it tastes more flavorful than my prepared meal for him?

Maybe, all my queries in mind affect the way he eats. So I think of many solutions:

1. Gave him various meal every day,

2. I eat with him always, so that he will not feel alone eating and enjoy eating his meal,

3. We play, like the airplane strategy – and then I failed hahaha, he always resist,

4. I make him watch cartoons or kids show that eats nutritious food.

5. When I am preparing our food, I make him join and introduce the ingredients of what I am gonna cook and explain how delicious it is and nutritious it is – some of it works of it some does not hehe, but at least I gain some,

6. When I eat something I make boast to him how deliciously it is,

7. I make sure, he will eat solid food before he drinks his milk,

8. Sometimes, I make him forced to taste the food I make, okay don’t panic, not in a harsh way.=) Why? Because I discover when he doesn’t like the smell or he just thinks that he doesn’t want to eat he will never ever taste the food. I tested it one time, I gave him food even though he doesn’t like it but after he tasted it he immediately asks me another one. Isn’t it good? =) But not all the time this is the case, well at least I’ve tried. If he doesn’t like it then I’ll try again next time.

Due to the variety of food I’ve tried giving to him. I discover that he loves meat! He also loves fish! He loves chocolate and cookies but I make sure he’ll eat in minimal because I’m afraid He will only ask it always.

When you tried to offer food to eat to him especially nutritious food he will eventually give it a try.

More important is to never give up to make your child eat nutritious food. Time will come that he will eat it. It’s never too late!=)

My co-parents and reader, what did you do, or what are you doing to make your little one saves from being a picky eater?
