Success isn't Linear. All of us have our own goals and aspirations in life. Personally, I can't say for myself that I'm someone that's achieved a lot in life, but what's important is we celebrate our successes, no matter how 'big' or 'small' it may seem! When I was 16, I started posting makeup tutorials for my own enjoyment. People were supportive into what I was doing, commenting on my videos and sharing them to other people. However, something came up into my life, making me pause what I was doing. I wasn't able to restart again, because I'm still not in the right mindset to do so. Venturing into the 'influencer' industry, I didn't know anything. On Instagram, brands were having their auditions for their PR lists. I didn't get into the first one I auditioned for, but the odds were in my favor for the second brand I tried. This jump started my way into the influencer industry. I joined an Instagram community which supported each other and I learned a lot from them! Recapping, I was 16 when I started putting myself out there, but only did I get noticed by brands when I turned 18. Thing is, one thing we should all remember is that we should never give up on what we do in life, we should take all the steps necessary in order to reach our goal. This also applies to start-up brands out there. People won't always get our vision, people will doubt you, but that shouldn't be a factor of you quitting what you want. Never let anyone dictate what you should be doing, but be open to criticism because we all have an aspect in ourselves in which others see that we don't. We may become let down because we didn't get what we wanted, but that's the point. Reality check, we don't always get what we want, but we shouldn't forget why we started. Success isn't always a staircase that goes up, but success is a combination of consistency, discipline, and excellence.
