MANILA SUPPORT LOCAL: The Manila City government has officially launched its campaign to support local businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic

Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said that the ‘Support Local’ campaign of the government aims to help businesses recover from their losses due to the pandemic.

“Gusto namin tulungan talaga yung ating mga local business sa Maynila. Kami po talaga ay talagang naghahanap ng opportunity para makapagbigay ng maraming trabaho,” Domagoso said.

The Support Local campaign is an initiative of the Bureau of Permits headed by Director Levi Facundo, in cooperation with the Department of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Manila headed by Director Charlie Duñgo, with an aim to help and maintain local jobs and businesses in the city.

Domagoso said that it has always been the approach of the city government to balance life and livelihood of the public in coming up with policies and programs.

“Buhay at ekonomiya, negosyo at trabaho. Iyon ang atake natin. The direction of the city is pangalagaan ang buhay, pangalagaan ang hanap-buhay,” the Mayor said.

Likewise, Permits chief Facundo said that the campaign does not only target to support large businesses but also small-scale businesses.

Facundo noted that the project also aims to encourage entrepreneurs to “think outside the box” in order to attract more customers to their respective businesses.

“Ito ay para rin sa benepisyo ng mismong community dahil kapag nadevelop yan, it will not just be a community-based business anymore, later on kapag pinupuntahan ng tao yan it wil become a destination,” Facundo said.

“Iyong impormasyon naman natin is global, but the execution is local. Pwede tayong mag-isip ng magagandang kaparaanan na globally yung standard pero ang execution natin ay local, adopting to local taste,” he added.
