The Bright Side of Losing A Job During This Pandemic

In this unprecedented times, everyone of us are prone to emotional distress. Losing a job was one of the huge impact on many aspects of our lives, especially if your job fills the void within and gave you purpose.
Losing a job in the midst of this pandemic could be very heartbreaking. In fact, I was one of the millions of people who have lost their jobs. It was something I didn't imagine happening this year. I got feelings of fear, anxiety, panic and helplessness, knowing I had to provide for my loved ones and now losing my income, I have lost the power to do so. I was too hard on myself, blaming myself in a situation I was never at fault for.

After nights of reflecting of what this occurrence is trying to tell me, I realized that I should be kinder to myself. Losing a job doesn't mean you failed. Although the news was devastating, you have to realize that our work doesn't make us who we are.
It does not define us. Unemployment is not permanent. One day from now, you'll get a job and you'll look back at your struggles and understand that it was just temporary.
Yes, sure, it's going to be a bumpy road ahead before you find another one, but don't you ever lose your perspective that good things can and WILL happen.
When a door closes, another door opens. Take this as a chance to see a brand new start after this pandemic ends or subsides. A new beginning. A major reset.

When I lost my job, I felt guilty trying to do things I want just for leisure because I felt like I should be doing something more productive and useful for my career. Never did I know that it was important to take a pause and enjoy the little things in life. No one knows when you will ever experience, just sitting with your family, watching Netflix together, having a meal and laughing at Tiktok videos together again so we must not take this moment for granted.

We may have the worldwide time-out in our toxic environment or cultures to let us reflect on what's more important and that is human lives (could be pets too). Just remember to turn off all sources of negativity around you, social media or news from the TV and have a quiet time for yourself. Free yourself from worries. Do it for an hour or more, breathe in, breathe out, slow down your thoughts and focus on what and who's there with you now.

There is no point in remaining in a low point of your life because when huge income or luxurious hangouts on good places are gone, good friends and family are left and you can never replace them with any material things (no matter how expensive or valuable they are,) this world has to offer.
If you still have your family members, your friends or any of your loved ones with you, just know that you're goddamn lucky. As long as we keep living, we can keep finding ways to survive and that is enough affirmation to keep you up and going.
The sun will shine again tomorrow.

Spend your life how you want and with who you want.

You got this.
